Detox for the mind

Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value] - Colossians 3:2 [AMP]

Things that come on the top of my mind is
  1. Stay away from irrelevant COVID-19 news that are on social media. (of course, cautionary news are important). But stay away from news that contains content -condemning a group of people, jokes about the virus or jokes on the government, anything that runs panic. We don't need to participate in every conversation of every WhatsApp group that talks about what's happening. The world has enough people who are just 'talkers'. But what it needs right now is someone who has wisdom and the ability to do right. We can be that. Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [centre your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].
  2. Remember to encourage one another. Encouragement is one of the strongest forms of leadership. The economy is not great right now. People are losing their job. But remember it is the Lord that controls everything, even NYSE & NASDAQ. Therefore encourage and comfort one another and build up one another, just as you are doing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Remind yourself and others on times when the going seemed tough and that tough time did not last forever.
  3. Think positive. What you think shows on your face. If you are joyful in your heart, it shows on your face. It is seen by others as well and it changes the mood altogether. At a time when people are working from home, your voice is what colleagues hear over the phone. A cheerful voice automatically relaxes the tension. A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, But a broken spirit dries up the bones - Proverbs 17:22
  4. Speak positively. Someone is waiting to hear a kind and positive word. Say it now! Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken at the right time. - Proverbs 25:11
