“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my
power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly
about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”—2 Corinthians 12:9
NIV®.
We would not be effective in doing God’s work if we
are full of ourselves.
Nor would we be effective in doing God’s work if we fail
to ask God for strength. God uses everything that we have - including our weakness.
All of us have weaknesses.
The world disregards the
weak. So we tend to hide it or pretend to be like someone who we are not.
We see that in the corporate world. How many times have you seen a slow /
shy person’s point/idea been honoured in a brainstorming session?
We see it in our homes too. How many times have we
disregarded our little children as ‘little’ and not included them in conversation
or planning? We have not found them important enough to take up chores thinking
they would mess up. Of course! they could. But aren’t we as parents aka spiritual
leaders for our children, supposed to coach and train them by being on their
side.
Weakness is often
looked on as a liability.
But God uses it as
a great asset for the launch pad of His Kingdom.

Today I want to remind you about Moses. He is one of
the best mission managers from the Old Testament. He was assigned a mission to
get Israelites out of Egypt and bring them to the promised land. By the age of
80, Moses had lost his ability to be a good orator.
'Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have
never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your
servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” ' -Exodus 4:10 NIV®.
How can a person with speech trouble lead the Israelites into the promised land? God makes it possible!
He is not your typical octogenarian;
Moses was 80 years old when he led the children of Israel out of Egypt. Today
most people his age would find it challenging to do what Moses did. His first 40
years in Pharaoh’s court had prepared him to lead, and his second 40 years had
given him knowledge of the desert through which he and the Israelites would
travel. Moses was fully prepared for God’s mission at the age of 80; the best
was yet to come.
Each year is an experience added to our lives. God is
preparing us!
Every opportunity, circumstance, failure, highs and lows is a potential
‘leader-prep’ for us.
We need not have inhibition of our weakness.
Take
courage and lay it in front of God for
Him to use it. So that if we boast about our achievements, may we boast about
Him and how He did it for us.
You are my strength when I am weak,
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all.
