Motherboard to Cutting board

Motherboard to Cutting board is an expression I coined to describe the span of my experience from the corporate IT world to managing affairs at home.

Motherboard to Cutting board is an expression I coined to describe the span of my experience from the corporate IT world to managing affairs at home. (It also rhymes… LOL)

Over several years, I have assembled learnings that have helped me a great deal to be more productive.

However, learning never stops, right? There is no age limit.
But what could be done with all the learning that is garnered.

The very next step of learning is to implement it.

I have used methods and practices that were learned at work and implemented them at home too. Right into my kitchen. You heard me right!

I started thinking about this while I was attending training at work ‘Bullet Proof Manager’ back in 2011.
Although the course's primary focus was to implement the learnings within an individual’s defined work scope and measure savings done for the organization, I began to look for ways to practise them at home.

Soft skills, best practices, and methodologies that we learn at work need not be left behind at our cubicles.
You could bring them out of those boundaries to make great value adds in managing home affairs effectively. It helps us be more productive at both places and cut down on some unwanted stress.

e.g.
We have a sticky board at home that is dedicated to 'The Urgent v/s Important Matrix
My older daughter who is 9 contributes to review it and she reminds us if there is something that has been lying around in a quadrant for a long time or needs to be shifted to an Urgent & Important quadrant. (e.g.making the maintenance payment for the society)
You can read more about 'The Urgent and Important Matrix' on Getting It Done

It is a great feeling for kids to feel important and valued. They would love to take up some of our chores.
So, train and delegate whatever they could do and free up your space and time.

"We ensure Customer Value Add (CVA) at the workplace. Let we use the same principle for Life Value Adds (LVA)."

I am sure you will now look at work in a different way – be it at the workplace, chores at home, teaching kids, shopping, or your hobbies.

'Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. '
Colossians 3:23-24 NIV®

In my upcoming posts, I would be sharing with you lessons I learned related to work.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert.

However, I am sure you would find the upcoming posts helpful. Cos, any experience is a great experience and it is worth more when it is shared.
