“But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God, the Father has given me the seal of His approval.”—John 6:27 (NLT)
I have realized that a man is satisfied when their daily needs are met.
Getting our needs met is of prime importance to us since our family depends on us and we value their well being.
Today in the evening Reji (my husband) had gone to a nearby store to get some sugar, coconut and spice. We know the owner of the shop and his family since we regularly buy milk from his store. Reji told me after coming back that the shop owner looked very tired and disheartened. Due to lockdown, he is struggling to get stock for the shop. Movement in the city is restricted due to COVID 19 virus spread. There is now a shortage of things and very limited items enter the city. For a small business like his, it's a struggle to make ends meet.
Looking at his tired face, Reji asked him to take some rest. His quiet yet powerful reply was "If I rest, who will feed my family?"
We prayed for his family. We believe that God is looking after his needs.
I can press into Jesus by
Keeping Jesus as a priority in life. We are bound with deliverables, tasks and to-dos. Spend energy on the right things. Meeting our families needs are important, but don't let those things take away our priority of keeping God first. I understand the pressure of the corporate world. Work is important since it is our mission place, a platform to show the world that we belong to Jesus. Ponder on this for a while.
We show the world by having and living our work-life with standards that are far higher than what the world thinks of. We work honestly and with absolute transparency. We should teach and encourage our team by being an example.
I worked from home for many years during my professional career.
All those years and even before that I had it in my heart to honour God with my work.
I did not have to be the best in the team or impress my seniors. I simply kept God as my priority in life. This automatically showed in my work and deliverables. My seniors trusted me with WFH when I asked them if I could full-time work from home.
They were impressed with deliveries being churned out in spite of me not present in the office so much that during one of my appraisal interview my manager mentioned that He was surprised how I managed work so perfectly while WFH. He also suggested to me that day that I should blog about it :) (that blog is highly due now !)
'But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. '
Matthew 6:33
- Confessing the promise He gave me. His promises come to pass. He is a God that will never lie. God's word is Yes and Amen.
'For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. '
Jeremiah 29:11
- Living out the character of Jesus. It's important to love like Jesus, live like Jesus and listen like Jesus.
"To this, you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. "1 Peter 2:21
"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. ' Proverbs 19:17
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.'
